A further update on Standards Authority consultations

Jul 31, 2018

The Standards Authority conducted three consultation forums with key stakeholders in July 2018. The events included licensees, educators and industry associations to canvass a wide range of views around the range of draft standards that FASEA has recently released for consultation.

The series of forums asked for stakeholder feedback around the financial adviser examination, professional year and continuing professional development requirements, the proposed process for approving foreign qualifications, and the Standards Authority’s suggested use of the term ‘provisional financial adviser’ for advisers who are completing their professional year.

The Standards Authority will be holding further forums to ensure input from a broad range of stakeholders as it moves to finalise its standards framework.

The Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority Limited was established in 2017 to set the education, training and ethical standards of financial advisers in Australia.
