CONSULTATION CLOSED

FASEA set the CPD standard in the Corporations (Relevant Providers Continuing Professional Development Standard) Determination 2018.

FASEA has recognised the need to provide relief for relevant providers from the CPD requirements in the context of COVID-19. For example, increased client activity supporting clients with Government support packages and impact of COVID-19, CPD courses or activities may not be being provided, or relevant providers may be unwell, or caring for persons who are unwell, and so cannot complete the activities.

FASEA proposes to provide relief to relevant providers by way of an extension of time for relevant providers to complete the CPD requirements.

This proposed legislative instrument amends the Corporations (Continuing Professional Development Standard) Determination 2018 by allowing relevant providers whose CPD year includes 18 March 2020 to complete CPD activities in the 3 months following the end of the CPD year towards the CPD requirements for that year.  The relevant providers may not count those CPD activities towards any other CPD year.   18 March 2020 is the date of commencement of the Biosecurity (Human Biosecurity Emergency) (Human Coronavirus with Pandemic Potential) Declaration 2020.
