MEDIA RELEASE

The Financial Adviser Exam has been held on 9 occasions with over 10,400 advisers passing.

In recognition of their achievement, FASEA today publishes a list of successful candidates and will do so after each future exam.  The list currently contains the names of over 7100 Financial Advisers who have passed the Exam.  Note that the actual number of advisers who passed the Exam as of October 2020 is over 10,400; however only advisers who have given permission to share their Pass result are on the list.

“FASEA congratulates the significant number of advisers who have passed the exam to date.  This list provides public recognition of their achievements and a high level of visibility for consumers and other stakeholders” says, FASEA Chief Executive Stephen Glenfield.

Consumers can look up an Adviser by name, state or by their Moneysmart (ASIC) financial advice register number.   The Exam is the second of the education and training standards required by the Corporations Act.  By passing the Exam it demonstrates to consumers their adviser meets the requirements of the Standard:

  1. They understand financial advice regulatory and legal requirements.
  2. They understand how to construct advice to suit advice aligned to different consumer groups, incorporating consumer behaviour and decision making.
  3. They understand and can apply the FASEA Code of Ethics and demonstrate professional reasoning to practical situations.

Existing advisers have until the end of 2021 to pass the Exam.
